Okay, so I’ve been diving deep into the NFL draft prospects, and this Landon Jackson guy from Arkansas caught my eye. I wanted to see what all the hype was about, so I started digging.

First, I pulled up some basic stats. You know, height, weight, where he played, that kind of stuff. It’s always good to get a baseline before jumping into the film.
Next up, I watched a ton of game footage. I started with his most recent games, then went back to some earlier ones to see how he’s progressed. I wasn’t just watching the highlights, either. I was trying to watch every snap, paying attention to his technique, his motor, and how he reacted in different situations.
- I looked at his get-off. How quickly does he explode off the line of scrimmage?
- Then his hand usage. Is he just bull-rushing everyone, or does he have some moves?
- I paid attention to his run defense, too. Is he getting pushed around, or is he holding his ground?
- And, of course, I checked out his pass-rushing ability. Can he get to the quarterback consistently?
After watching a bunch of film, I started jotting down some notes. What were his strengths? What were his weaknesses? What kind of player did he remind me of? Basically, I was trying to build my own scouting report.
Finally,I went to check out some mock drafts and expert opinions. Did my assessment line up with what the “pros” were saying? It was interesting to see where they had him projected and compare their notes to mine. I don’t always agree, so I’m not taking what they say as gospel.
This whole process is fun, getting into the details and do some research. It gave me a much better feel for Landon Jackson as a prospect. Whether my opinions are right or wrong, I don’t care, I just love sharing the process.
