Searching for David Toms WITB information? Find his official gear rundown right here.

Alright, let’s talk about what’s in David Toms’ golf bag. This actually started pretty simply. I was watching some old highlights, I think it was maybe the PGA Championship he won way back, and I just got curious. You know how it is, you see a guy hit a great shot and you wonder, ‘What club was that?’ So, I decided to do a little digging.

First off, I just hit the usual spots online. Typed in ‘David Toms what’s in the bag’, ‘David Toms clubs’, that sort of thing. Found a bunch of articles, sure, but a lot of them felt kinda old. You know, stuff from years ago. Golf pros change their gear all the time, sponsorship deals change, tech gets better, so finding something really current? Not always straightforward.

I spent a good bit of time sifting through forum posts too. GolfWRX, places like that. Sometimes you get good tidbits there, guys who saw him at a tournament, maybe snapped a pic of his bag. But even then, you gotta take it with a grain of salt. Is it this week’s setup or last year’s?

Piecing it Together

It felt like a bit of detective work, honestly. Comparing photos from recent tournaments, looking at interviews if I could find any where he mentioned equipment. It’s a bit of a rabbit hole once you get started. You try to cross-reference things. If one site says he uses Brand X driver and another says Brand Y, you gotta look for more evidence.

After bouncing around quite a bit, I started to get a clearer picture, or at least what felt like a reasonable guess for his typical setup recently. It seems like he’s stuck with some brands for a while, which makes it slightly easier than guys who swap constantly.

Here’s what I sort of landed on, based on everything I could find:

  • Driver: He seems to lean towards a Titleist driver, maybe one of their more recent models but sometimes pros stick with older ones they trust.
  • Fairway Woods: Again, often Titleist here. Usually carries a 3-wood, sometimes maybe a 5-wood depending on the course.
  • Hybrids: I saw mentions of him using hybrids, possibly from Titleist as well, to replace longer irons. Makes sense, lots of guys do.
  • Irons: This was interesting. Looked like he might be using some Titleist irons, maybe a blended set with different models for long and short irons. Some players prefer more forgiving long irons and blade-like short irons.
  • Wedges: Vokey wedges pop up a lot when you look into his bag. That’s Titleist’s wedge brand. Usually carries three or four for different lofts.
  • Putter: This is always the most personal club. I saw mentions of Scotty Cameron putters (also Titleist), but players definitely experiment a lot here. Could be anything he feels good with that week.
  • Ball: Pretty consistently plays a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x. Most pros stick with one ball.

So, that’s the gist of what I figured out. It took a bit more effort than I thought it would, just wading through old info and trying to verify stuff. You realize pretty quickly that WITB lists online are just snapshots in time. What he played last month might be different next month. But it’s still fun to get an idea of what gear these incredible players trust when they’re competing. It was a fun little project, anyway.
