Okay, so I’ve been trying to get a handle on predicting MLB games, and today’s focus was Mariners vs. Astros. It’s a tough one, these two always have tight matches.
First, I dug into recent performance. I checked out both teams’ last 10 games, looking for any winning or losing streaks. I also made notes about whether they were at home or away, since that can sometimes make a difference.

Then, I looked at the starting pitchers. This is HUGE. I compared their ERAs, WHIPs, and recent game logs. A pitcher on a hot streak can totally change the game’s outcome.
Next, I went head-to-head. I found the stats for previous Mariners vs. Astros games this season. Who won? By how much? Were there any standout players? This gives you a feel for the team dynamics.

I also try and get any relevant news, which can be a factor. Sometimes players get injured during practice.
After that, I considered the bullpens. Even if the starting pitchers are evenly matched, a strong bullpen can be the deciding factor in later innings. So, I looked at their ERAs and recent performance, too.
Finally, I put it all together. Considering everything,I try and be realistic and give it my best guess.
