Okay, here’s my share on tackling Changli ascension materials in Genshin Impact!
Alright, so I decided to finally level up my Ningguang, and that meant dealing with the dreaded Changli ascension materials. Let me tell you, it was a JOURNEY.
First things first: Planning. I jumped online to see exactly what I needed. Turns out, I was missing a bunch of Basalt Pillars (those Geovishap drops!), some Cor Lapis (that orange ore everywhere), and a decent pile of masks from Hilichurls.
Okay, time to get to work. Here’s what I did, step-by-step:
- Geovishap Hunt: Ugh. I hate those things. But Basalt Pillars are crucial. I marked a few Geovishap locations on my map (thanks, interactive map!), and geared up. My strategy? Zhongli shield, DPS, and a healer. Took a few tries, I kept messing up the timing on dodging their attacks, but eventually I got the hang of it. I think I fought the Geovishap like, five times to get enough pillars.
- Cor Lapis Mining Spree: This was actually kinda relaxing. I knew Cor Lapis was all over Liyue, especially near mountains. So, I teleported to a high point near Mt. Hulao and just started gliding and mining. I found a ton! Used Ningguang’s passive to find the ore. I mean, she’s the one who needs it, right? Felt appropriate. I circled around Liyue a couple times, hitting up known Cor Lapis spots. Easy peasy.
- Hilichurl Mask Massacre: Okay, this was the most tedious part. Hilichurls are everywhere, but getting enough masks is a real grind. I remembered seeing a popular Hilichurl farming route online. Basically you teleport all over Mondstadt and Liyue and just smack every hilichurl camp you see. I focused on the bigger hilichurl camps with Mitachurls and Lawachurls cause they drop the better masks. Used Xiangling for the AoE. Those little guys didn’t stand a chance. After an hour or two of mindless hilichurl hunting, my mask collection was looking much better.
- Crafting and Conversion: Of course, I didn’t just need the basic masks. I needed the upgraded versions too. So, I hauled myself over to an alchemy table and started converting all the lower-tier masks into the higher-tier ones. Same with the Cor Lapis, crafted them into the ascension gems I needed. Click, click, click… this took longer than I wanted.
The Result?
Finally! After all that grinding, mining, and mask collecting, I had everything I needed. I went straight to Ningguang’s character screen and hit that “Ascend” button. Big number go up! Now she’s hitting harder and my team is stronger. Worth it? Yeah, I think so. Even if I never want to see another Hilichurl mask again.
Pro-Tip: Don’t forget to use your Parametric Transformer if you have one! Sometimes it can spit out some of the materials you need, saving you a bit of time.
